10 Tips for Choosing Domain Name For Blog

10 Tips for Choosing Domain Name For Blog

Tips on Choosing a Domain NameChoosing the right domain name is one of the important things when wanting to build a blog (or website).
A beginner blogger who just learned blogging usually do not think carefully when wanting to choose a domain name (including me first ).
Though actually many important things to note.
What are some important things, Mas?
Quite a lot.
Please note only tips on choosing a domain name for the blog below.

1. Do not use free domain

The first thing to note is as much as possible not to use a free domain.
Free domain is usually sought after by beginner bloggers who can not wait kepengin own domain but have no money or pretending not have the money to pay the paid domain.
Free domain example for example. Kindergarten,. GA,. ML , etc.
Why, Mas? If there is a free one why should buy?
If you want to build a blog to be managed seriously then using a free domain is a less intelligent thing.
The reason:
  • Free domains are not entirely free, usually only free first year or there are hidden requirements. One time my friend can lose access to your domain without notice (I've never experienced it)
  • Free domains are often used by spam blogs. One day can be banned by Google ( it had already happened )
  • Ugly, not professional, not cool

2. Forget the EMD, choose a brandable domain

What is an EMD and brandable domain, Mas?
EMD or Exact-Match Domain is a domain that uses targeted keywords to get ranked in search engines.
For example you want to target the keyword " How to Make a Cake " you can use Exact-Match Domain " www.cara-membuat-kue.com "
While brandable domain is a domain name that prioritizes branding rather than keyword. Easy example like google.com, yahoo.com, facebook.com, etc.
For the matter of EMD vs brandable domain actually still often become a debate among bloggers. Some argue EMD is better because it can help improve the ranking in search engines, there is also a opinion that brandable domain is much better.
I personally prefer using a brandable domain rather than using a domain solely to pursue a keyword.
The first reason because I think Exact-Match Domain is not so great influence on ranking in search engines, especially Google.
Secondly because Exact-Match Domain is very identical to web-web spam and also low quality web-web.
No wonder that the Year 2012 yesterday Google updated its algorithm to reduce low quality Exact-Match Domain web in search results.
What does it mean to use keywords on a domain name is ugly?
Not at all, my friend can still use the keyword in the domain name of origin instead of Exact-Match Domain.
Examples such as online store website tokopedia.com . Domain contains the keyword " store ", but tetep there brandingnya element.

3. Do not use trademark on domain name

This one is usually often ignored by a person when registering a domain name.
While using trademark or trademarks belonging to other people on the domain name can be at risk our blog is sued by the trademark owner.
For example my friend to make a blog with the domain namembahgoogle.com , it is not impossible later Google will contact my friend to sue 500million fines for using their trademark without permission.
So check first before registering the domain name whether the domain name that you choose to contain trademark or not.

4. Select the extension .COM, .NET or ccTLD

When you search for a domain name try to search for a domain withextension .COM . The reason is because this domain extension is the most popular on the internet.
Most people who still lay about the internet assume all the website address on the internet behind him use .COM . So not to confuse the layman, useextension .COM .
If you do not find a domain name that fits with the .COM extension, alternatively you can use the .NET extension (the second most popular domain extension).
But if .COM and .NET are not right, the third alternative is to use ccTLD .
Most people would recommend. ORG as a third alternative, but I recommendccTLD because .ORG is less suitable to install on blog.
What is ccTLD ?
CcTLD stands for Country Code Top-Level Domain , a domain extension that is specific to a particular Country.
Example:
.ID = Indonesia (www.tafsirjalalain.id)
.DE = Germany
.ES = Spain
.IN = India
.JP = Japan
.DLL = Abbreviation of " And Others "

5. Create a domain name as unique as possible

Make your domain name as unique as possible, do not imitate the domain name that already exists.
For example blogs discuss about technology, then try not to use the word "Tekno " on the domain name.
Because as far as I see already very many tech blogs that use the word "Tekno " on the domain name.
I think it's too market.

6. Make sure it is easy typed, remembered and spoken

In addition to unique, the domain name you select should also be easy typed, remembered and spoken. This is important to facilitate us in promoting blogs, especially offline promotions.
If for example there are friends or neighbors who nanya our blog address, we are not confused jelasinnya.
Examples of real events:
Temen: Mas, what's the blog address?
I am: mas dot sugeng dot com
Temen: is the hyphen written or how?
Me: Yes
Temen: (go to Google Chrome and keep typing "mastandahubungsugeng.com")
Me: tepok forehead
Here are some tips so that your domain name is easy typed, remembered, and spoken or 3D .
  • Avoid using numbers (example: sugeng1234321.com)
  • Avoid using hyphens or ill-defined symbols (eg mas-sugeng.com)
  • Avoid using words that are hard to spell (eg pronunciationtips.com or dklhfkler.com)
  • Avoid using a domain name that is too long (example: blogpalingkerendiduniamilikmassugeng.com)
  • etc.

7. Do not choose a domain name based on the trend

This one actually depends on the topic of your blog. If the topic of your blog is specifically only discuss the topic that is ngetrend course, then it is not so problem if you choose a domain name that adjusts to the trend.
For example in 2015 yesterday again really ngetrend agate of the name, well buddy can use a domain name like infobatuakik.com if indeed the topic of your blog specifically discuss about agate.
But if you want to blog about the other stones and will be managed for the long term, it will be smarter not to use the agate name in the domain name.
Because not necessarily agate will remain popular in the years to come.

8. Do not use used domains

Domain former how do you mean, Mas?
The former domain I mean here is a domain name that has previously been registered on behalf of other people but the domain is expired and can be registered again.
Actually it does not matter if we use a domain that has been registered, just sometimes the domain is former web spam, pornography, virus or other bad content.
In addition, not a bit also a former domain that has been banned by Google search engine or even already banned Google AdSense, which means that if you use the domain blogs my friend will not appear in search engines and also can not be monetized with Google AdSense.
So when you search for a domain name and find a cool domain name that has not been registered, immediately to check because most likely the domain is a used domain.
How ngeceknya how, Mas?
To check the used domain just go to http://whois.domaintools.com/ type in the desired domain name, keep clicking Search .
If it says " Deleted And Available Again " it means the domain is a used domain.
Former domain
To check whether the domain has been banned AdSense or not just go tohttp://www.isbanned.com/

9. Register the domain in a trusted place

Tips on choosing a domain name that I have described above is very important, but there is one more thing that is not less important, namely choosing where to register a trusted domain name.
Do not let my friend register the domain name in place abal-abal only for cheaper reasons or because there is a big discount-gedean.
Of course my friend did not want to lose access to the domain that my friend had because the domain name provider disappeared without a trace, either because of bankruptcy or for other reasons.
Rumahweb.com is one of the trusted domain name providers that I recommend.
Know where to come from, Mas?
  • It has been established since 2002
  • Many make sure
  • The domain price makes sense
  • It's accredited by ICANN

10. Tips from my friend here ...

Maybe only until the number 9 just tips on choosing a domain name that I can convey.
So that his tips even be 10 (ten) I want my friend to fill it in the comment field.
thanks.

Google PageRank is Dead, It's The Successor Are you still using Google PageRank as a tool to measure the quality of a blog SEO? If yes then you should stop the habit from now. Why? Because Google PageRank is dead. Google PageRank is dead? Google's death issue PageRank actually has been blowing since long, precisely since last October 2013. It's just that the issue of death at that time was not proven because in December 2013 it turns out Google did update PageRank. But it has been more than a year since the last update, Google PageRank until now has not updated again.
